This book was published to celebrate 150 years of John Lewis. This bastion of British Retail started life as a draper’s shop which stocked 50 shades of black silk to cater for the bereaved of Victorian London. It is now a huge department store and this book charts its development. It is very different in its approach as staff are called partners and they have a say in the way the company is run and receive a share of the profits which in good years adds a substantial amount of money to their salaries. This copy was a staff presentation copy as it has a letter tucked under the front flap addressed to dear colleague.
