There’s A House Inside My Mummy by Giles Andreae and illustrated by Vanessa Cabban
A magical way to introduce the idea of the arrival of a new baby to a novice sibling. It is aimed at very young children, I would suggest toddlers to reception age. The text is all in rhyme which children love and the illustrations are lovely and quite humorous. It explains in a very gentle way about pregnancy and birth and tells the sibling that they too were once in Mum’s tummy. It gives plenty of opportunity for discussion and allows the parent to use the book as a guide to tailor their chats to their child. I have recommended this book a lot during my bookselling career. Definitely a five star book.
