A beautiful leather bound edition of this classic children’s book. It has brown tree calf leather binding with five raised bands on the spine. The front cover has tooled gilt decoration and a school motto. I believe this edition was rebound in this gorgeous leather binding in 1916 as a school prize. I cannot find any other copies with this binding. The School was the Queen Elizabeth in Barnet and this book was awarded as a prize for needlework. The text is clear and crisp and Kipling’s illustrations are delightful. The binding is bowed but my personal opinion is that does not detract from its charm, if it did not have this fault, the price for this title would be in 3 figures and not two.
